Description

WhoDo does one thing and one thing only!
It creates new contacts in the Contact app by extracting data from text you have selected.
You don't even need to launch WhoDo.

You don't need to launch an application to use WhoDo!
Just select the desired text in any Mac application then use the 'Services' context menu!
If the Services menu is inconvenient, you can also 'Copy' and then switch to WhoDo.
Whenever you open WhoDo it immediately assesses the current clipboard for contact data.
If you keep WhoDo running every time you bring it to the foreground it will automatically process the current Clipboard.

WhoDo has a very minimal user interface - it has a single purpose and is designed to be the least possible interruption in your workflow.
WhoDo uses Apple's data detectors and natural language processing.

Download WhoDo for free and then create 3 free contacts to verify WhoDo's functionality.

After the free trial contacts have been created you must make an in-app purchase:
2 weeks usage - 99¢
1 year usage - $3.99
Permanent license - $7.99
WhoDo does NOT use subscriptions!
You can purchase either of the short term usages as many times as you need.

WhoDo can:
• assign the new contact to a specific Account (e.g. Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, ...)
• assign the new contact to a Group (if Groups are supported in the Account)
• create either a Person or an Organization
• assign unlabelled values with either Work or Home labels
• automatically capitalize names of all types
• automatically supply the area code for casual phone numbers
• populate the new contact's ‘Note’ with text of your choosing; you can also add the date & time of creation as well as the full text of source data.
• provides the contact in an editable Contact view for your final approval before you Save
• each time you open WhoDo it can provide the contents of the clipboard for use a new contact
so you can 'Copy' and then open WhoDo if that is more convenient than using 'Share'
• extract multiple contacts from Numbers - best if you include the header row
you can elect to process multiple contacts individually or in one bulk action.

WhoDo works with macOS 10.15 (Catalina) and later

What’s New

Version 3.0.1

Complete rework of product internals - rewritten in Swift using MacCatalyst
Focuses only on Apple's Contacts app and the Containers (Accounts) which the user has defined
Utilizes a new Apple entitlement which allows WhoDo to write data into Contact Note field
A 'Services' menu item now provides a system wide means of utilizing WhoDo
You can select rows in a spreadsheet to create multiple contact records.
(For now you should include the label row at the top of the spreadsheet)

Ratings and Reviews

corpjester ,

No longer functions. Avoid this app.

Update March 2023:
Absolutely not-working. Text copied to clipboard, opened WhoDo, clicked 'Create' to add it Contacts, and NOTHING happens. No dialog confirmation, nothing. Click create multiple times and it's a dead end. App does nothing. Has stopped working, yet it's STILL AVAILABLE IN THE APP STORE?? Come on Apple, what's up with this????

Update Jan. 2023:
-Appears to have been abandoned by the developer? Now crashes reliably when trying to create a new contact, and very difficult to find an email contact for the developer. Very disappointing.
---------------------------------

This will be a great addition to anyone's workflow, and provides the missing link between Apple's Data Detectors and creation of new contacts from the clipboard. However I find the interface cluttered and a bit difficult to navigate, and often it simply does not grab the current clipboard contents, instead opening to what was previously pasted there from the last session. And I wish it would appear as an option in the Share Sheet, so it I could simply highlight some text and then invoke WhoDo with a Right-click from the Share Sheet.
