Love it!

I love the fact that this app will say the word to you so that you know how to pronounce it! Super fun and easy to use

W.T.F

I was thinking about using this app but after reading so many terrible reviews I decided against it. One of the benefits of using a “Premium” subscription is to avoid ads. Apparently this isn’t true with this particular app. I noticed a couple other things as well;
1- It’s only been the last year or so that the premium feature has added the ads obviously to make more money. (Greedy jerks)
2- It appears to be an auto generated response to the people that have, for obvious reasons, complained about the ads. This in itself is vulgar display of, “We really don’t care what you think of our app!” that I have ever seen! The developer should be ashamed of this but I know the only thing they’re doing is laughing all the way to the bank!
I’m sure the app has a great premise but due to a terrible developer, I will NEVER use this app and no one ever should!

Developer Response ,

Hello there!

I’m very sorry for so many negative experiences you’ve had with our app. Though it may be hard for you to believe us at this point in time, your opinion means a great deal to us, and we sincerely apologize for our previous responses. You are right in that we should have given each response a bit more thought. Coming off as rude or negligent was not our intention by any means, and your review has been both sad and sobering for our team.
Our premium membership allows our users to enjoy our app without any ad interruptions. It also gives users access to the etymology of each word as well as synonyms and daily push notifications featuring new words. As a business, we cannot afford to get rid of ads because with the help of ads and premium memberships we support our team and our families. We wish the case were different but this is how it is. We cannot afford to offer Word of the Day for free to all users.
Having said that, we are deeply and sincerely sorry that we weren’t able to meet your expectations on so many levels. Please know that we want to do well with our users. We will do better.
We are now in the process of a total Word of the Day overhaul. We hope that you return to our app someday and give a new and improved Word of the Day app another shot.

With kind regards,
Kristina

Bad in many ways

The widget takes too much space and doesn’t use it. When you click on the widget, it doesn’t show you the word it’s on the screen. The words are really not that useful.

Developer Response ,

Greetings!

I’m terribly sorry for the inconvenience. There is indeed a glitch with widgets because we are testing a personalized vocabulary recommendation system for Word of the Day to help you learn words based on your interests and vocabulary level. The widget doesn't seem to want to synchronize with the new system and shows you “wrong” words as a result. We are aware of the issue and are planning to have it fixed this week. So please keep an eye out for the next Word of the Day update. It will fix the widget issue.

We really appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy our new, improved and glitch-free version of Word of the Day in the near future!

With kind regards,
Kristina
