The Birdcage 2

Magical Creatures

We can’t help but wonder how much hassle it must be to feed these birds. After all, they’re contained in cages that take several minutes to open—even when you know what you’re doing.

Just as with its predecessor, The Birdcage 2 requires you to figure out how to unlock a series of cages. The keys lie behind elaborate mechanisms, involving switches, handles, rotating wheels, hidden compartments, and more.

You’ll poke, prod, turn, and swipe, spinning each cage to examine it from another angle, and tapping to zoom in on anything that catches your eye. That’s the easy part. Now you’ve got to figure out how each piece of the puzzle works—and how they all fit together.

Solve elaborate mechanical puzzles to unlock the mysteries of The Birdcage 2.

You’ll need to study visual clues and rearrange letters, numbers, and symbols to eventually reveal the key—and it’s not always in one piece. You’ll even need to use a bit of magic on occasion, drawing glyphs on the screen to reveal, burn, or unlock small objects. And no, these spells don’t work on the main lock. Where would be the fun in that?

The cages might be your focus, but the environments surrounding them are easy on the eyes, too. You’ll see fiery embers drift by a silver cage as you try to liberate a phoenix. Later, you’ll feel a shiver during a wintry outdoor scene, with snowflakes falling gently while an ice dragon waits patiently for you to free it. Did we mention these cages don’t always contain birds?

Liberating these bewinged beauties gives you plenty of incentive to keep solving puzzles.

There’s actually a good reason for them to be held captive, which we won’t spoil. And hidden scrolls, obtained by finding three red gems in each cage, will lead dedicated cage-crackers toward one final secret.

With a bonus augmented reality (AR) mode that lets you bring these cages into the real world—and even solve puzzles with your face—it’s hard to imagine many will pass up the chance to free every one of these fantastic beasts.
