Bridge Constructor Portal

Build & Create Constructions

A physics puzzle double-whammy! Building bridges is a tricky enough task, but in Bridge Constructor Portal you do it while being taunted by GLaDOS. The sarcastic AI from developer Valve’s original game, Portal, stars as the host of 60 fun challenges. Your job is to shepherd trucks from one side of each chamber to the other, across vats of toxic waste. This involves placing girders to form roads and bracing them against walls so they don't collapse.

Later chambers contain additional threats: security turrets or disintegrating beams perhaps. Obstacles, or doors activated by remote switches, often block the route.

Who knew that calculating angles could be so fun?

GLaDOS gives you platforms that accelerate your trucks or enable them to bounce, in addition to the eponymous teleportation portals. We get a genuine sense of achievement when we figure out which combination of girders, cables, portals, gels and switches will get our lemming-like vehicles through each testing space.

There’s a reference guide to construction techniques included, and it’s hard to imagine anything requiring a grasp of pressure distribution would be this fun. Could we be… learning here?

But fun it definitely is. The first Bridge Constructor game launched in 2012 with Medieval and Stunts variations hitting the App Store since. Taking that concept and setting it in Portal’s quirky sci-fi universe seems like a left-field choice at first, but the result is, in GLaDOS's own words, a triumph.
