The Sims Mobile is an all-new version of the hugely popular Sims franchise, where you customize avatars powered by artificial intelligence and then guide them through their daily lives in a vast virtual world. The game has dominated our days and nights of late, and we have some questions.

Is it OK that we’ve spent hours meticulously re-creating ourselves—from the shape and colour of our eyes to our clothing choices—in the game’s colourful, whimsical city? And what about our fascination with fantasy home decor—is it normal to agonize over every towel rack and dining chair, whether the paint in the bedroom is too stark a shade of white or our throw rugs are too patterned?

Customize your Sim and your house.

We admit that we’re a little caught up in this ground-up Sims experience. But can you blame us? This is, after all, the most robust, full-featured, and all-around stylish take on the popular life-simulator to grace mobile devices yet.

The depth is apparent from the moment you design your first character. Create a chubby-cheeked, green-skinned barista who flirts with everyone she encounters, or go for a gray-haired curmudgeon who loves spicy food and DJs in his downtime. If you can dream them up, you can design them.

Interact with other Sims.

As the Sims go about their daily lives—cleaning their houses, chatting with neighbours, heading to work at hospitals, coffee shops, and fitness centres—they grow as virtual beings. When they perform tasks, they unlock currencies and level up, and acquire new abilities and objects, from furniture to new behaviour possibilities.

Inevitably, your Sims grow old and retire, and they pass down traits to the next generation that could influence their family line. So a music teacher’s son might grow up to form a popular rock band, or a yoga instructor’s daughter may one day open her own dance studio. It’s a great design choice, sure to keep you coming back again and again.

There’s also a fun social component. Invite over friends’ avatars or bunk at their digital pad. You’ll even be able to meet up with others at big events, like Speed-Dating in the Park.

Whether you’ve played for years or you're new to the colourful artificial world of The Sims, you’ll likely feel right at home with this innovative mobile version.
