Ready for a challenge? Cosmic Express is what we in the business call a brain-melter: it’ll test your logic and reasoning skills to their limits. You might want to scream at times, but the satisfaction of finishing a puzzle is unbeatable.
You take on the role of an intergalactic public transportation designer, flying through the galaxy to get all manner of aliens from A to B. In each level you must design a single train track that will take your customers home. There’s a grid structure so you can’t fudge things and squeeze in an extra rail, and the aliens have to be taken to the right colour-matching homes.
Cosmic Express eases you in nicely: the first half-dozen levels are a cinch. Factor in the cutesy cartoon visuals and you might even wonder if this is really a kids’ game. It’s not, believe us.
Progress a little and you’ll find levels that will leave you stumped; it’s as certain as death and taxes. But there’s a killer game-design feature that ensures that Cosmic Express does not turn into a punishing experience: instead of having a linear structure, the level map branches out in a series of clusters, looking a bit like a star map.
Right now, on our map screen, we can choose between 10 different levels, so instead of getting stuck, making your brain short-circuit until you want to stop playing, there’s always another puzzle you can skip to. All aboard!
