High scores. Endless action. Massive explosions. Prune, a perfectly crafted slice of Zen, has none of that. It’ll throw a few challenges your way, but this is a game to sit back and let yourself get lost in.
Each level starts off with a small sapling, and it’s up to you to ensure it thrives. Gentle swipes will slice away branches, encouraging your tiny tree to grow around obstacles and reach the sunlight. This well-paced experience rewards finesse and planning over fast reflexes—and feels less like a puzzle game than your own digitized bonsai tree.
As you carve and create your way through the world, a soothing soundtrack builds to a crescendo when your tree finds light and blooms white petals. Don’t forget your headphones.
Prune’s visual style is like something out of a traditional Japanese painting. Each level culminates in a beautiful final frame. There may be multiple ways to solve each puzzle, but the result is always picturesque—and ready to share with friends and family via a single tap.
