Description

Now with favoriting, platform availability, and keyboard shortcuts! Install today to speed up your development workflow.

The simplest way to access SF Symbols: right from your Mac Menu Bar.

Opt for list or grid view for effortless browsing, using the search function to find exactly what you need. A single click on a symbol copies its name to your clipboard, ready for Xcode.

Preview symbols in your app with Symbar’s details panel. Adjust weight, rendering mode, and color to see real-time effects. Toggle between multicolor and monochrome in the overview list for quick insights into multicolor support.

Quickly check symbol restrictions and platform availability. Wondering if you can use a symbol for your app feature? Symbar highlights restrictions and allowed uses. It also displays platform availability, ensuring your chosen symbols are visible to all your users.

Favorite symbols to instantly copy their name to your clipboard, ideal for frequently reused symbols with long or hard-to-remember names. Handy for prototyping, reducing back-and-forth.

What’s New

Version 2.0

Symbar 2 is here. It’s been completely refreshed and rewritten, and is ready to go for SF Symbols 6. This update includes all the latest SF Symbols that are available on Apple Platforms. I’ve also taken care to clean up the UI, improve accessibility, keyboard shortcuts, animations, and search.

LATEST SYMBOLS
Symbar 2 includes all the latest SF Symbols available from Apple. That’s over 6,000 symbols! And now they’re all quickly accessible from your Menu Bar.

NEW DETAILS PANEL
When you select a symbol, a brand new details panel will open with a redesigned layout, new controls, and easier to read information. Leave the details panel open to always see the information about your currently selected symbol. Use the new toolbar controls to preview how symbols look at different weights, rendering styles, and with colors applied.

IMPROVED SEARCH
The search feature previously matched your query against the name of the symbol only. Now search will index on the symbol’s category, common synonyms, and the symbol’s name. Plus, if the initial search turns up no results, Symbar will dig deeper using a new fuzzy search algorithm to provide additional results (which may not be as accurate, but may help you better find the symbol you’re looking for).

NEW CONTROLS
Make Symbar work just the way you like it. You can now change the primary click action when selecting a symbol. Choose between (1) copying the symbol name, (2) copying the symbol name and opening the details panel, or (3) opening the details panel only. You’ll also notice some of the layout controls have now been moved to the bottom bar to make them easier to use.

CONTEXT MENUS
Finally! You can now secondary click (right-click / option-click) on a symbol to bring up a menu with additional actions such as favoriting, opening details, or copying the symbol name.

PLATFORM AVAILABILITY DATA
I’ve added availability data to all symbols for Apple’s newest platform: visionOS! Plus all platform availability data is now both much more accurate and much more granular. This means, where applicable, you’ll see minor OS version availability information (e.g. “iOS 14.1” instead of just “iOS 14”).

I hope this update to Symbar was worth the wait, I know it’s been a long time coming so I appreciate your support and patience while I worked on this. I have some exciting updates planned for the near future so stay tuned. And, if you’re enjoying this update, please take a moment to leave a rating or review on the App Store — it really helps :).

Happy coding,
Sam
