If you have, know or spend any time around children, you’ve probably heard the name Toca Life. Toca Boca’s suite of popular kids’ sandbox apps like Toca Life: City, Vacation, Neighborhood and Farm are more like toys than games, offering children a virtual world in which they can build, play, interact and generally mess around.
Kids love them: Toca’s apps have been downloaded more than 200 million times in 215 countries.
Until recently, Toca’s sprawling list of titles played out as individual experiences (and separate downloads). But that’s all changed with the release of Toca Life: World, a one-stop shop that combines all 11 Toca Life apps into a single, massive destination on iPhone or iPad.
If you already own one or more Toca apps, you can add them to Toca Life: World by tapping the plus sign in the shop. It’s that simple. (Just make sure they’re updated to their latest versions first.)
Toca games don’t have end points, storylines or boss-level battles – the idea is simply to explore what the company calls “the power of play”. As such, like its predecessors, Toca Life: World is a universe of objects and characters that kids can play with, move around, design, colour and put away.
It comes with 39 characters and eight locations, including a wacky hair salon. Kids can play hide-and-seek. Or make a lunch. Or get a green Mohawk haircut. Or just go to sleep! It’s the ultimate Toca sandbox.
Unlike previous Toca apps, World is free to download and signals the company’s shift from single paid apps to free releases with in-app purchases. As such, more than 300 characters, 125 pets and 50 additional locations are available to buy, across different price points.
