Description

Invisible Ground is an augmented reality app that allows you to experience the history of southeast Ohio at 7 locations around Athens County! More sites coming in 2024.

The Invisible Ground app works with an Immersive Historic Marker in Athens, Ohio to let visitors see present-day locations through an augmented reality experience that puts the historic sites on the camera view of their device. Currently, this works at two locations: across the street from the former Berry Hotel at 15 N. Court Street, Mount Zion Baptist Church at 32 W. Carpenter Street, and the Athens County Courthouse at 1 S. Court Street. At Mount Zion and the Courthouse look for green circles on the ground around the intersection and across the street from the buildings to activate different photos, for the Berry Hotel, just point it at the Diner. All sites also have audio orientations available for each location and there is a full podcast episode available too! look for more markers and podcasts soon, visit www.findinvisibleground.com to learn more.
