Description

KanjiBox is an offline Japanese studying application. It provides an efficient yet fun way to practice all aspects of Japanese (kana, kanji, vocab, reading, writing...) through drills, quizzes and flash cards, while providing engaging feedback through progress charts, scores and game-like "achievements" for each Japanese level.

KanjiDraw and KanaDraw add-ons harvest the full power of your device's touchscreen to guide you through proper Japanese handwriting, while detailed animated cards tell you everything you need to know on each kanji.

KanjiBox is particularly well suited for standardized test preparation (JLPT, Kanji Kentei, Ninja Academy etc.) but works great as a personal study tool too.

Excellent

The different sections with drills and quizzes are excellent - I find myself progressing very well. The app makes me want to come back to revise more and more to "level up" - almost like an addictive (but very productive) game. I especially appreciate the kanji writing section - perfect for making sure you're writing the character correctly when studying by yourself.
The stats are awesome. I personally find it very rewarding and motivating to see the bars turn from blank (not studied) or red (wrong answers) to green (correct answers).
Only thing better would be an added grammar section.
Definitely recommend it whether to autodidacts or for revision!

Efficient - but still a few improvements possible

KanjiBox is very efficient, especially in quizz mode, for a very cheap price given the full range of functions and knowledge included.

It could still be improved in learning mode: vocabulary is not fully displayed on an iPhone screen (2/3 are invisible at the bottom),some failures due to differences in writing remains difficult to overcome (not only a tolerance issue).

Quick and lean!

A fine app for continuous learning, starts up quickly and offers multiple topics (Kanji, vocabulary, composita). Kanji- and Kana Draw Modules are fantastic! Works fine on iPhone and very good on iPad.
