Why does it require background access to pictures?

Why does the app ask for background access to the photo library if the pictures for processing are loaded in through a separate photo selector and the pictures the app can access in the background do not even appear in the user interface. So what is that access to the photos in the camera roll used for? Because it's not used to load the picture that is edited. Also why is there no propper privacy notice referenced in the app? What happens with the pictures that are uploaded to the processing server? Are they immediately deleted after processing or are they stored?

Also, please add support for art filters preserving freckles. It's a shame what they do with the faces of people who have beautiful freckles.
