WHAT ARE NOVENAS?

Novenas are nine-day Catholic prayers through the intercession of a saint.

Millions of Catholics have had their prayers answered by God by invoking the intercession of the great saints of the Church. Jesus said, "where two or three are gathered together in my Name, there am I in the midst of them." The Pray app enables friends and communities to pray novenas together for specific intentions.

Choose which saint you want to have pray for you, pick a prayer intention, and the app will supply you with each day's prayer. Easy! The app will gently remind you when you haven't prayed your novena prayer for the day.

Choose from novenas to:

- St Jude

- St Joseph

- Divine Mercy

- Novenas to the Blessed Virgin Mary (18 different novenas!)

- The Holy Rosary

- Pope St. John Paul II

- St. Benedict

- Sacred Heart of Jesus

- Immaculate Heart of Mary

- St. Anthony of Padua

- St. Therese of Lisieux

- St. Francis of Assisi

- and over 100 more!

Pray App

A great prayer app. Thanks for putting together this valuable resource.

Psychological integrity of the human being

Dear Father, Mother, Brother, Sister in the Christian Faith,
I like your application: it helps put intention into practice and therefore fortify us in our Faith.
However precisely for this reason I consider it useful to submit to your attention the fact that the psychological integrity of the person who prays must be respected. In the light of the well known -not new at all- psychological laws of action (Ribot, Beaudouin, Assagioli, amongst others) describing that thought, therefore words and even images, lead to corresponding feelings and actions, the word 'poor sinner' ought to be replaced by some positive, constructive and encouraging word/image, like i.e. 'earnest pilgrim' ( on the way to the heart of God).

And to say we hate our sins, which I do understand's original, biblical meaning to be "I stay away from" -btw : lapidation has its origin in this command to stay at a distance from the sinners- BECAUSE WE LOVE GOD, which theologically is logica, is above the head of the simple believer who just (wrongly) associates the words at face value, which therefore becomes or can easily misunderstood as: to cultivate hate means that you love God; well for that type of believer it would be better to reformulate that part of the petition into something like: we purify and transmute our past mistakes thanks to our love of God....
Just an idea.
Nonobstant this, I love these prayers and especially the fact that your application efficiently helps us to guide the psychological energy of our intentions into constructive directions, which is a manner of encouraging us to indeed transmute our imperfections into virtues, thus hastening our pilgrim's journey to the heart of God, with the constructive side effects this also has on society.

Respectfully yours,
Isabelle Kung, Geneva - Switzerland
(Still under the great impression left by the visit here on June 21, 2018 of His Holiness the Pope Francis, and his so encouraging words on the meaning of the holy prayer of the Christians: The Lord's Prayer)
