One of the best resources of its kind

I’ve been a subscriber for around half a year now, and I’ve seen substantial improvements to my ability to read Mandarin texts. I passed the HSK 5 a few years ago and was looking for ways to improve further. TCB was recommended to me by a friend as a way to do this, and I was happy to try it, since reading was my weakest discipline on the test. The app makes the experience of training yourself to read more complicated texts very smooth, since it includes a dictionary and integrated flashcards for studying vocabulary. The user interface is somewhat clunky at times, but has improved substantially over the past few months. I would recommend TCB to all intermediate learners of Mandarin trying to ease themselves into more extensive reading.

Bad UX, bad learning effects

I’m just waiting for a competitor to take over and do a better job. User experience sucks, the functionalities as well and the articles they are publishing are always too complicated for the level, sometimes also way too easy.

Great App Overall

The product is great overall. What I like about it, is the unique combination of reading and listening comprehension. I don’t know of anything like that, that is beginner friendly as TCB. I also like that texts are short so I can practice before bed or on the bus/train.

However, there are two things I don’t like. 1) Sometimes the loading times are insane, making the app unusable. Which I assume is due to network/ server reasons. 2.) The idea of the exercises is great, but there are some bugs (this is minor to me, I still learn a lot)
