Your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--283,000 words, without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

The whales have granted the merfolk eternal life, and asked you for so little in return. Defense against the giant squid. Secrecy from humans. But when a rogue mermaid tries to destroy the gift of immortality, ancient secrets rise from the depths, and the delicate balance of society rests in your hands.

Will you fight to protect your immortality, or surrender it for a higher cause? Will you choose sides in the neverending war between the whales and the giant squid? Will your undying love save the City of Glass, or destroy it?

Stellar Settings, Marvelous Mermaids, and Choices oh my!

Sea Eternal is an awesome game! The writing is quite good and the story is extremely compelling as well as inclusive; you’re given the choice to make your own name, pronouns, gender, and significant other! I love the world building- it’s quite different from the settings in most mermaid stories. The conflict is complex with various dilemmas while the characters themselves always have more under the surface than one may expect. Everything is multilayered and more than it seems🤭

Tips below!
1) Stats! They’re in the top right corner. Check those CONSTANTLY, about every 3-5 choices or so. The values (Independent vs Respectful, Bold vs Patient) change depending on your choices which WILL affect later choices in the story.

2) Carve out an hour or more for each ‘session’. There’s multiple endings depending on your choices. I’m currently on my third take and got completely different endings (though that was intentional as I tried to make opposite choices.)

3) Try out different avenues! The big beats of the story always happens but the events in between are partially up to you.
