You can select the word in alphabetical order (English meanings) by clicking “words” in the menu bar. Basic everyday Hakka words!

There are no retroflex consonants in the Hakka language, like sh,tch. The southern Chinese dialects (Cantonese, Hokkien, Wu and Hakka) they all don’t have these consonants.

Over 45 million people speak Hakka Chinese natively throughout southern China, Taiwan and overseas. It is primarily spoken at home or between close friends. They speak the Common Chinese (Mandarin) when at school or doing business.

客家语，俗称客家话，简称客语或客话，是汉藏语系汉语族的一种语言，为客家民系的母语。其母语人口分布于广东东北部、江西南部和福建西部，即传统的客家地区；台湾分布于桃竹苗、六堆和花东纵谷等地（台湾客家文化重点发展区）；东南亚尤其是马来西亚亦有不少母语人口。截至2007年为止全球以客家语为母语的人数大约有4400万人。
