You make your triumphant return from summer break—your hair is longer, you’re wearing every flavor of Lip Smackers, your crush finally notices your horse shirt. “Who is that?” your peers whisper as you glide past. The lockers part. You ascend into the sky. Or something like that.

But did we ever successfully blossom into middle school royalty? You’ll have to consult our diaries (spoiler: no).
