Description

This update quadruples the resolution of zoomable specimen imagery, and features a new-and-improved ID Key, two new flashcard activities, search, and a glossary.

PocketMacros is a handy visual guide designed to help identify and learn about aquatic macroinvertebrates. The app includes a field guide section, an interactive identification key, and flashcard practice modes. This companion app to Macroinvertebrates.org: The Atlas of Common Freshwater Macroinvertebrates of Eastern North America is funded by the National Science Foundation and aims to support watershed stewardship, water quality biomonitoring, environmental education, and recreational fishing.

The PocketMacros app runs standalone, requiring no account of any kind and with no Internet connection required. The PocketMacros app collects no identifiable user data, but is capable of collecting anonymized user analytics data. This feature is opt-in, is disabled by default, and can be turned on or off at any time within the Settings section of the app. Collected data cannot be used to identify a user. We use analytics data for our research and to improve the app, for example to identify the most popular features, which features aren't being used or discovered, etc.
