[A Day in the Life of an Engineer: My First Health Check Experience]
At 4 o'clock, I swallowed the first dose of laxative, and my heart began to race. By 6:30, my stomach started making terrible growling noises, like a monster from the deep sea whispering. Despite desperately drinking water, I could only manage 1250ml. At 9 o'clock, I took the second dose of laxative, feeling like I was performing an unpredictable ritual. I continued to drink water, this time reaching 1000ml, but the anxiety inside me grew stronger. Was this preparation enough? Would I be able to capture clear images?
The next morning at 6, I was abruptly awakened by a sharp pain, as if something was tearing inside me. I stumbled to the toilet, drenched in cold sweat, feeling like I was about to pass out. Unbidden scenes of seeking help flashed through my mind, imagining myself collapsing in a filthy mess. Fortunately, the intense pain finally subsided, leaving only the "results" behind.
The morning checkup was surprisingly fast. The nurses were both gentle and professional, their instructions clear and firm, providing a sense of comfort. I chose a painless endoscopy, first drinking an anti-foaming agent, then having a needle inserted into my hand. Lying on the bed, I took deep breaths, trying to relax. Time passed, and I dozed off for a while. After a long wait, someone finally came. I asked, "Are we starting?" The person coldly replied, "It's already over."
I had expected at least some discomfort in my body, but my throat and rear felt perfectly fine, making me doubt if they had done the procedure at all. After the anesthesia wore off, I didn't feel dizzy. It was truly a strange experience, like going through a bizarre dream.
