Description

Understand and explore the beautiful landscape and rich wildlife of the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape and surrounds through the knowledge of the Gunditjmara people, traditional owners of the stone country of western Victoria.

This app presents descriptions of 250 species found in and around the Budj Bim Cultural Heritage Landscape. It includes birds, fishes, frogs, lizards, snakes, and mammals as well as freshwater, terrestrial and marine invertebrates. It is only a fraction of the complete fauna of the area. For over two-thirds of these species, names are given in the Dhauwurd Wurrung language and information provided about their significance to the Gunditjmara people. It contains over 700 beautiful images of wildlife and country as well as audio calls for all bird and frog species.

The content has been developed by staff at Museums Victoria, Australia’s largest public museum organisation in collaboration with the Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.
