FLARMINGOS is a project of artist Kristin Lucas, produced through a Tech Residency at Pioneer Works in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and made in partnership with Tour du Valat research institute in Arles, France. FLARMINGOS are virtual representations of wild flamingos the artist has adopted. They are animated by human motion capture and a dynamic flocking algorithm that influences their collective behavior.

The shared reality feature requires a cellular or Bluetooth/Wi-Fi network and supports collaboration for up to 6 app users per flock, contingent upon network strength.

Performs best in a well-lit space.

The app is compatible with the Apple iPhone 6s and higher, Apple 9.7-inch iPad (5th and 6th Generation), Apple 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and Apple 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The app runs on iOS 12.
