Description
The FUTÁR application by BKK Centre for Budapest Transport has been renewed under the name BudapestGO, which, in addition to real-time route planning, has been extended with new functions: you can buy digital single tickets, daily and weekly travelcards or passes in the application and you can also be informed immediately about the current transport service changes. You can use the route planner with a cleaner and clearer interface, facilitated by a number of new features.
New features in the app:
- Ticket and pass purchase, journey planning in a single app
- Digital single ticket now also available
- Automatic pass renewal
- Traffic information (BKK Info application integrated)
- Personalised transport updates via push message
- Trip planning for trains and suburban railways available with a BKK-pass
- Simplified interface
- You can buy local or intercity tickets and passes for most municipalities in Hungary.

No Apple Pay
The app itself runs just fine but prepare for some inconveniences. The app doesn’t have Apple Pay support despite using Apple Maps for location purposes. You have to register to use the app and then sign up for a Hungarian online banking system developed by OTP Bank called Simplepay. It’s anything but simple. Why share your card information when you can pay directly from your phone? Everywhere I’ve been in Europe they accept mobile payment, sometimes even on board of the bus or tram. Budapest has over 3 million tourists a year and this app is not really useful yet alone easy to use for them. For route planning you can use Google maps and you can buy tickets at the ticket machines (which many stations have) so I would not recommend this app unless you really looking for the 30 or 90 mins long tickets which you can only buy through this app.
Not useful
App looks ok, not the friendliest design for the user but its not terrible. Thats where my positive review ends.
Imagine being in 2022 and you still can’t pay for a ticket with apple pay. After taking 5min to register you can’t buy a ticket, the payment gate freezes and the payment does not go through resulting in wasting your tike and missing your bus the first time you use it. 2 of my friends have the same problem.
It would be great if a city like Budapest had a a application where you can buy a ticket for public transport. But I think people responsible for this app were probably busier with giving it 5* rather than fixing it.

Doesn’t work
Impossible to register, the landing page switches from english to hungarian and doesn’t process anything. Either confirms or showing error, either way it doesn’t work. Without the option to buy tickets, this app is pointless. Didn’t had any issues like that in other apps in other European cities.
