Uninspired and overpriced
Compared to desktop versions of Civilization, this game understandably lacks in complexity. However, it also lacks an element of surprise - something that distinguishes it from previous games. The game feels like facelifted Civ Revolution or Civ III / IV Light. It is playable and it also has that addictive mojo, but there are still some things that could be better. Civilopedia is nicely written, but lacks a Game Concepts page, so you don't find out about armies, naval support or how growth works. Tutorial is too short to teach you anything beside how to move. Information you get is limited, more detailed breakdown of city's stats or statistics of a game in general are missing. Zoom is pretty annoying - you can't really zoom in or out much and when you do, it bounces back. Units are obsolete by the time you build them and the worst part is - you can't upgrade them. One thing that actually stands out and even exceeds desktop versions are space ship building animations. However, that is too little to ask 14€ for it. Overall, this game has most of what standard Civ should have, and is nice to play Civ mobile, but the price is unreasonably high for what you actually get.
