Description

With IKEA Home smart app and DIRIGERA hub, it's easy to create smarter everyday moments with lighting, speakers, blinds and air quality products.

Picture yourself waking up as your smart lights gently rise. Your favourite songs play on the speakers and you still haven't gotten out of bed. How lovely, right? Smart products like lighting, speakers, blinds and air purifiers can make a lovely addition to your everyday life. When you improve the IQ of your home, life itself runs a bit smoother.

The magic happens when you combine two or more smart products from IKEA, tell them what to do in the app and save it as a 'Scene'.

A great scene is one you will use often. Think about waking up and going to bed, cooking and eating, date night and family time, or leaving and coming home. All everyday moments when we can support you with the best lighting, sound that suits your mood, and cleaner air.

When it comes to control, we think of everyone, from young to old and even visitors. So while the app gives you total control to customise your smart home, our range of remotes make it easy for everyone to live with and use a smart home.

In control
• You can control products individually or in groups. You can turn whole rooms on and off or the whole home, all at once.
• Dim and change light colours, adjust blinds, speaker volume, and much more.
• Set the scenes you need and trigger them with schedules, a shortcut button or use the app.

Easy to use
• The home screen gives a fast overview of your whole home. Quickly control products, access rooms, or start/stop scenes. This is also where you add new products, rooms, and scenes.

Organised and personal
• Organising your smart products in rooms gives fast access to the products you want to control.
• Personalise the app with your choice of icons, names and colours for rooms and products
• Create personal scenes, for example your own combination of cosy lighting and your favourite music.

Integrations
• Connect to Apple Home, Amazon Alexa or Google Home to use a voice assistant.

Works great but misses functionality

The app is stable and works without flaws and the setup process is simple and well explained. Dirigera hub together with switches have really neat minimalistic design. Lovely smarthome set to set up.

However it still lacks many functions that could put it above its competitors:

1. Assigning of actions to buttons depending on the number of presses. For example shortcut button can now have only 1 action assigned which is a huge downside. Also dimmers could have more personalisation options with double/triple-clicks.
2. Thread and Matter support and hand in hand with that compability with third party devices. It would be super lovely to use for example their very nice sound remote controler with other products and vice versa.

Hej! Thanks for reaching out to us. It is now possible to test Matter as a beta feature. You can activate it in-app settings "The Workshop". Please note: Hub firmware 2.521.6 is required and currently pushed out. /IKEA Home smart

Very limited scene settings

App is fine, however scene options are very limited and much worse in comparison with other system such as Philips Hue.

For example: 1. There is no option how to change light colour only without turning the light on and changing %. So it is impossible to have the light automatically adjusted to the right colour after you turn the light on when coming home at the evening. The only option is to let light to be turned in fixed time while settings the colour despite that there might be nobody at home. 2. No geofencing. Absolutely no option how to work with scene using the location. No turning of light on when you arrive and off when you leave. 3. No option to have colour of lights automatically adjusted on the basis of daytime. 4. When starting and ending scene by sunrise and sunset, there is only 1 hour timeframe before and after. This does not make any sence, why such limitation, why not 2 or 3 hours? This is very unfortunate as the products are great, however, the these limitations makes the whole much worse than it might be. After several years Ikea is not competent enough to make Dirigera at least as capable as tradfri, because the app for old app has more options. I am not even talking about promised Matter support which probably will never arrive. Not very smart home in reality.

Hej! Thanks for reaching out to us. It is now possible to test Matter as a beta feature. You can activate it in-app settings "The Workshop". Please note: Hub firmware 2.521.6 is required and currently pushed out. You will also find another experimental feature called "presets for smart lights" which gives you a bit more control over light temperature throughout the day. /IKEA Home smart

Decent but homekit pains

Devices disconnected and do not reconnect. I had to remove and add the integration (and all the automation with it) like 5 times.

Update: I cannot directly react to dev reply. This is the reply. The accessories did disconnect from homekit. With change of the homekit architecture and one remove add of the integration the devices seems to be stable. I have new issue though. The hub seems to be connected to homekit twice. One have all devices operational, second have all disconnected. This doesn’t render devices unusable but it introduces duplicate devices

Also I tried to get this addressed via Ikea support (Czech) and ended up with copy of the chat, “we are RMA, I’ll forward this to colleague in lighting dept.” message and thats’s pretty much it

Hej! Thanks for reaching out. Ok, please try to reboot the hub (cut from power for about 7 minutes and let it start again). Have you tried to delete the "ghost hub" from Homekit? Are you using a router with different frequency bands? /IKEA Home smart
