Enhancements at the cost of breaking features..

I guess it’s useful to add new or upgraded features regularly to show that the app is evolving and is compatible with the newest devices and systems, but I have the feeling by doing so, it neglects the older hardware which don’t get the latest systems and features..

Since this upgrade to version 8, streaming to my 2nd generation Apple TV got broken, both from my iPhone 6 as from my iPad 5th gen. Some of you would say so why not upgrade the Apple TV then, it has a native app now.. But why should I if the device is perfectly working, as well as the devices I’m streaming from?..

A way to install the older version isn’t made possible by Apple, leaving me to wait for a fix if it ever comes, which is frustrating..

I’m a paying member of NPO plus, so I expect things to work.. at least as they used to..

Other ‘minor’ annoyances in the ‘old’ app which I believe should have had priority “fixing” (they are not..) is the ability to choose if you want to play the broadcast automatically or not. I don’t, but it does. As well the ability to switch off auto playing the next video, leaving you with a history of still to finish videos you were never interested in watching. Also dismissing these is not possible. Further a global setting to not to view subtitles could be added too..
