One of the only open source map apps I like
Pretty good maps - little outdated but that's on open maps and has one of the smallest download map size - like 4 times smaller than google but pretty much same
Great app, no doubt
I have absolutely nothing to complain about the functionality of the app itself, I really appreciate this app and it is a very powerful rival to Google Maps, Apple Maps etc.
I use it all the time, I very rarely reach for Google Maps, and when I do, it's more of an OSM problem than the Organic Maps app itself.
But one thing bothers me, when I want to rotate the map just a little bit, it immediately reverts to the default (north) orientation. This is incredibly annoying. I have to rotate the map at least ~45° to get it to rotate, otherwise it goes back to north again.
Overall, the map manipulation could be more responsive, I like to zoom in/out while rotating the map completely arbitrarily.
Also, when I start zooming I can only zoom, I can't rotate the map at the same time, but the opposite is true, when I start rotating the map I can zoom right away.
