I honestly don’t understand how this app has such a high rating.Patreon should be a simple platform where paying supporters can easily access content from creators they already follow. Instead, the app feels cluttered, confusing, and focused on pushing content I never asked to see.The first thing the app does is force me to select interests during onboarding, with no option to skip. Why? I already know which creators I support. I don’t need Patreon trying to recommend more content or creators. Just let me access what I came for.Finding content is surprisingly difficult due to the unclear layout and poor navigation. The app constantly surfaces posts I’m not interested in, while the content I actually paid for is harder to find. The video experience is equally frustrating:* No timestamp linking, so creators can’t direct viewers to specific bonus sections.* Watch progress doesn’t sync properly between devices. If I start a video on one device, it often starts from the beginning on another.* Videos autoplay by default, and disabling this is buried in advanced settings.* Even when watching a video in full screen, my iPhone still goes to sleep.Overall, this feels like a platform trying to become a recommendation engine instead of focusing on its core purpose: helping supporters access content from creators they already pay for. This was my first experience with Patreon, and most likely my last. Paying subscribers come here for specific content they want to watch, not to be funneled through engagement-driven recommendations. Instead of making the experience better, the app creates unnecessary friction at every step.I won’t be subscribing through Patreon. In its current state, this app simply doesn’t deserve my money.
