I use it for 10+ yrs on various platforms and all the bugs were always fixed very quickly.
UI deficiency
Horák
We have used WhatsApp for our devel conversations recently (yes, it's true:).Threaded conversation on top of our projects, its ease and flow is absolutely crucial for us.I like the idea behind Slack and all that slash commands, APIs and integration possibilities, but for God's sake, adjust the UI so that it feels right. It cannot be nowhere compared to WhatsApp visual clarity and ease of use.Particular ideas:– Slack's UI is too flat. Lacks visual clarity and control elements hierarchy.– Balloons. Please make the conversation ballooned like in every other normal chat application. My contributions on the right, others on left.– Badges. Please show the number of unread messages in the top left corner. I don't get why I have to swipe the screen to find out whether I have any unreads (even in the channels I have turned all notifications on on).– Smoother switching between channels/users. Swiping to the right and selecting another channel / user sometimes doesn't work or isn't smooth (including animation). Seems like a little detail but imagine how often you have to use this gesture.– Make the threaded conversation really threaded. Your implementation of threads is just a linear list of replies to a selected topic, it's not threaded conversation. In WhatsApp every single reply can be threaded (however WhatsApp doesn't put threaded conversations aside).I will give Slack a few weeks shot, but I am worried we will turn back to what's crucial for us – smooth conversation. WhatsApp does it's job the best so far.
Sync on iPhone not working properly
Kvikalkov
Synchronization on iPhone is not working right. We are using Slack as office tool and to talk to our business partners on daily basis. My company pay 300$+ monthly for licences. Yet the notifications on iPhone doesnt synchronize with Macbook version, I’m not getting some DMs (like I don’t even know somwone wrote me important message) and I accidentaly/randomly find them in phone notification summary (swipe down on iPhone). Also the DMs are not listed in most recent/actual order.Super confusing and currently worst performance out of all communication apps. Whats Up is way better. Unfortunately, Slack stays prefered option for many companies so we have to use it to avoid paying double licences (we used to be on Teams, also worked much better).
Developer Response
Sorry for the notification trouble, please navigate to your app’s “You” tab - “Notifications” - “Troubleshoot Notifications”. Once the tests complete, tap the “Send Report” button to flag your results with our support team for further digging.
Bug fixes
• A little reminder as you go about your day: The world is a more unique place simply because you’re part of it, and you’ve affected others in ways that you can’t imagine. Oh, and no big changes to the app this time. Happy messaging!
