You don't have pay to have FUN
Finally a game where I'm not forced to pay. Of course, if you want everything faster and have all the heroes and upgrades perfect, you can pay hundreds of $$, but you don't have to. I suggest paying just that one time (~6$) to get second slot for construction and then you're free to continue, slowly but it's still fun.
Make sure you're in an alliance that's active and supports you.
It's still kinda making me want to pay more, but I'm handling my urges haha, there are many events and other ways to be at the top. Obv some heroes and VIP privileges are only for paying players but I'm okay with the slow gain of power.

How its work
Every new state is massacre from begining. Important is join to strong aliance from top 10 or have in aliance few bigger spenders. Choose role f2p or spender. Rally leaders need spend a thousands $. Joiners can be f2p, just focus on fast leveling HQ and troops, when you have 100k army, upgrade them all to max level. I have just one think for developers: add some option for move old account to another state, bcs if state die and people left, we can only farm and play some events.. or create one mega state and alow enter to zones depend on level - it will secure new people againts older.. also some trading ingame and curency will be nice, like in mmo, selling items, sending in mail.. something like a gold/silver. You must have bilions $ income so why do not give more options..

Good game
You need good / active alliance and you are able to play without payment. Of course without money your growing is slower but still funny. I play it few months and i will play it another few months.
