Thanks to the simple in-app registration and the new Volkswagen ID, your vehicle can connect to your smartphone even more quickly.

To use the We Connect services, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and to log in to We Connect with your username and password. A separate We Connect or We Connect Plus contract must also be signed online with Volkswagen AG. For We Connect Plus, you have 90 days from when you receive your vehicle to register it at www.portal.volkswagen-we.com and use the services for the full duration of the agreed, free period.
**Usage requires an identity check in the form of Volkswagen Ident verification.

Realy basic functionality with bugs
It works when you put in precise address or map point in bigget city.
When put map point outside of city, your car will take you to the city center.
In my case it cost me 45min delay and angry business partner to learn this.
Not able to manage already saved destinations.
Not able to make your trace with go-through points.
Doesn't work well with phone address book
unsable/unreliable app, often even can not log in
car-net was never a stable, nor reliable app. I use it for more than 2 years with my eGolf, but since “upgrade” to WeConnect, I hardly succeed to log in, usually I just get message “service currently not available, try log in later”. If I succeed to login, I have 50% chance to get into my car. sometimes I succeed to get updated status, sometimes I just get bunch of error messages. active car control like pre heating or windshield defrosting can not me controlled, app either crashes or just returns another error messages and recommends “try later”.
Trying to go through the web portal as backup is about the same story.
this must be a joke, I can not believe VW is unable to put alive a simple app with few controls, which will work. 24/7, reliable. Are they still living in 20th century? I hope there will be more Teslas and like, to send VW to the 20th century graveyard (when they produced lately good and reliable cars), unless they learn how to produce software as good as cars. Can you imagine a car which will start once every 10th attempt, and on some days not at all? ok, this is how VW key app “We Connect” works. shame.
Does not work on Apple Watch 3 after renaming
After the renaiming to We Connect I can not use the app on my Apple Watch.
