Description

Fast machine translations to/from 130 languages and lightweight manual (csv) or scripted (JSON) app text localizations. Your companion when switching to string catalogs.

• Start using String Catalogs with ease. No need to learn XLIFF XML formats or invest in complex translator tools.
• Translate all your app texts and localized string resources in minutes, using the two best machine translation APIs: DeepL and Google.
• Continue your favorite manual translation workflow, either text editor, spreadsheet or scripts to other APIs.
• Keep localizations consistent across your apps with your own glossary of localization rules. For cases where machine/AI translators struggle, like buttons with a single word.

Key features:
• Finds and localizes all XLIFF files in the Localizations folder exported from Xcode String Catalogs. All in one go: hundreds of keys with dozens of localizations in multiple catalogs.
• Strings with interpolations, pluralizations (single and multiple) and variants by device are no problem at all.
- Try it with this small test app: https://github.com/prosultsstudio/XLIFF-Localizer-Testcases.
• Manual workflows supported by .csv and json file export and import. No need to obtain (free) personal API keys from DeepL Translator or Google Cloud Translation.

And also:
• You control which of the three translation options are used and in which order.
• Advanced filtering and sorting of translation rules. Making it easy to maintain a database of thousands of rules.
• Untranslated strings can be viewed and also exported for manual post-processing. Import as rules when done to complete the localization of your Xcode project.
• AI-translations from/to 30 languages with DeepL (superior in European languages) and 130 languages using the Google API. The app reports if your language is not supported.
• API usage is measured and visualized. You always know if you are still below the free limit of 500,000 characters per month.
• Manual translations in over 200 languages: all 2-letter ISO language codes and most common locales from Xcode 15.

Getting started:
• Request your own personal API key from DeepL and/or Google. This is free of charge, but does require a credit card for authentication.
• You can use the full localization functionality for free during 14 days. After that period, you need a subscription.

Known limitations:
• Only exported localizations of String Catalogs are translated. Other XLIFF sections (not originating from .xcstrings files) are skipped, to ensure stability and predictable results.
• Multi-line keys are translated fine, but importing in Xcode does not work. Use a LocalizedStringResource with a single line key and the multi-line text as default value, instead.
- See the example in the test app on Github.
• In rare cases, like translation of English to Chinese of a long string with two pluralizations, DeepL returns no translation. Google always returns a localized string.
