App Store Award winner Wakeout uses movement to break up long sedentary stretches into shorter ones to improve your health, increase your energy and enhance your creativity.

What we love: The routines in Wakeout – most of which are shorter than your typical pop song – are beautifully organised into more than a dozen categories. Browse by your location (work or home), your focus (waking up, pain relief), position (sitting or standing) or specialty categories (with a partner). Connect Wakeout to the Health app and add widgets to start your favourite workouts directly from your Lock Screen. Or activate the Healthy Moments option, which reminds you to take regular 30-second breaks to drink water, rest your eyes and check your breathing and posture.

Browse the app’s categories to find exercises that meet you right where you are – seated or standing, at work or home or in transit.

Quick tip: Use the Healthy Work Timer to help you focus on your projects in 25-minute sprints that are broken up by brief exercise breaks. You can customise your Focus Activity, adjust the length of time between breaks and specify whether you want to choose your exercises or be surprised by a random one.

Meet the creator: Wakeout was founded in 2017 by childhood friends Andres Canella and Pedro Wunderlich who wanted to make desk work less sedentary. They believe that our energy, creativity and overall wellness are directly enhanced by movement, so they designed and produced over 2,000 fun exercises and stretches that anyone can do in the office, at home, dressed in professional attire or in pyjamas.
