ABC Australia iview 12+

No picture when connected to projector

App works on my phone but when I connect to a projector I get sound but no image. I have no problem watching videos on YouTube etc in this way.

This means the app is quite useless really as I'm not going to watch tv on a tiny Smartphone screen.

Useless

Pretty useless. Sure the app offers only a fraction of the content that would be available domestic. That is of course a joke in a globalized economy, but I get that outdated legal restrictions apply.
Bad, but not a fault of ABC at all.

But what makes this truly a joke is basic missing functionality. Because even if whatever you want to watch is available: good luck finding it. There is no search button. A content app without a search button. I don’t even get how anyone could even forget a feature that’s on the „essentials“-list in every kind of software developer team for such an app. So how do you access shows? There is an „A-Z“ list. But well, of course you can’t just jump to the starting letter you are looking for. It’s just a list. So happy scrolling until you find your content :)
It might be a nice app to watch whatever they offer live (for me it only seems to be the news). Even though I am totally missing the value here.
But if you intent to actually follow a show or something it’s a horrible experience. Not just the search button is missing. Also a „save“ button or anything.
Well all in all there is just a „watch live“ area and the full list of shows A-Z. It’s easier to put it that way then to mention all missing features that would be required to make this an at least barely appropriate app for modern days streaming requirements.
It’s nice that they offer the app, but they could have saved themself quite some time and money if they wouldn’t have developed it - because certainly the motivation to do it right wasn’t there.
Sometimes it’s better to release no product instead of something half finished that just shows carelessness.
