Books Reader - Pocket Library 4+

Almost Perfect!

I have 5 stars because of all the reader I tested this one has been my absolute favourite and I hope it will always be available in the app store. It doesn’t have a library of books i don’t want works in all the formats I need and I can easily add books from my files.

I like the simple design and the reader options. So far all the chapters in the epubs have been picked up and work well, i don’t get any glitches when trying to find a specific chapter.
It usually always brings me back to the exact place i closed the book, but there is a bookmark functions to make sure.
It also has a notes and search function.

The app also easily adapts to apple’s accessibility features. When I change text size in settings the app usually adapts to it and it also works really well in the assistive access mode, which I rate particularly well.

THE BEST PART: Is that the app is completely offline and doesn’t force me to sign up or give any kind of information. The app also works completely for FREE and all features are always available.

The devs gave an options to give donations from a small coffee cup icon at the tops of the screen, similar to a lot of Github software devs. I love that I can decide when to give a donation and don’t get forced to pay for the app, this also makes it easier to give donations when I have the money instead of subscribing to a reader app and having to cancel every time my student loans to allow me to keep the app for the next month. Really kind and awesome from the devs, thanks so much!!

MY SUGGESTIONS: The only two things I would like to have changed, which aren’t actually that important.

It would be great if the book importing would allow multiple books at a time, even if its like 10 or so at a time, my books are usually shorter in length and adding them all one by one is fine, but it would be nice to make it more efficient. Or maybe grey out already imported books, so I know which ones I already imported.

I also would like to have a separate tab for the read books. I don’t want to always delete them out the app when I am done, since I like rereading my books multiple times. So a archive feature would be awesome, or just to not consider them in the sorting ‘reading progress’, so they don’t show up in top.

Another thing I would like is to maybe have a small icon or invisible area at the top of the screen that opens the menu. When I am in reader mode, I often have to tap on the screen at a weird angle or multiple times to reveal the menu bar, which I don’t have a problem which either. But maybe a easier way of accessing the menu can be added, maybe a small icon or just a specific part of the screen that needs to be clicked that reveals the menu. Or maybe even using side button. Double click to open menu.

Another maybe tiny thing would be to change the name of the app on the home screen / App Library to show just ‘pocket library’, i think the name is nice and this way it wouldn’t squish together the letters awkwardly, because it is too long to display properly.

Other than that I have nothing that the app could do to make it better, none of my suggestions really affect the usability of the app, how it currently is. I am fully happy with the current design, there are no glitches and for someone who reads a lot and always gets new books, I am content with everything.

I hope the app stays available and gets updated regularly, best app I found on the app store, that doesn’t come from some big company and is overloaded with features I don’t need. Happy to donate whenever I can!! Thanks to the devs!
