The Guitar Note Trainer is an app to help you learn the notes on the guitar neck - one of the most essential skills for progressing guitarists!

It has four training modes, Name The Note where you have to name the note shown on the neck, Find A Note where you have to find a given note on the neck in all 6 positions, Memory Quiz 1 where you have to name a note having been given it's position, and Memory Quiz 2 where you must name all the notes across a given fret (a tough one!!).

There are some "Easy" options for those just starting out to limit your range of answers.

You also have an audio option to hear the notes as you select them!

If you really need to cheat you can swipe your finger diagonally across the fretboard and all the notes will show for a second :)

I'm sure you'll find this app very helpful, all you need to add is practice time!

Version 2.17

We've added a reference fretboard section to the app to show you all the notes on the fretboard for revision. We've also added options to allow you to choose which strings and which notes (whole notes only or all notes) are tested in the training modes. We've also updated the screen layouts so that they fit better on X style screens.

Best way to learn the notes on the fretboard

One month ago I did not know all the notes on the fretboard. Now I do. It‘s simple as that: It helps you learn the notes real fast.

The app has four different ways to teach the notes, „name the note“, „find the note“ and two memory modes. If you switch around between these it will never get boring and you will learn even faster. It keeps track of your progress too.

Great app, really practical and I used it on my daily commute for just a month, and now I know all the notes, which helps me tremendously with playing triads and solos in blues and non-blues! ;)

Perfect App

I'm using this app quite a while now.
Its a perfect app for beginning and intermediate guitar players.
Its a must have for every guitar player especially for those who want to support justin and its awesome projects.

Lovely app

... However, two bugs:
Seems the 2nd game (name the note?) has a bug, as quite often I cannot touch the correct position. Need to hit a wrong one before it accepts the correct one (often on the screen edge of my iPhone5).
In the Quiz2 (4th game) it will stay on the last position even if you start a new quiz... Should reset back to first position.
