Say “Hello” to the Orion Video System, a software application from Lux Entertainment and Optics Inc. With a simple USB-C Capture Card, or “dongle” and the free Orion Video System application, getting a big screen is never a big hassle*.
*Requires iOS 17, an iPad with USB-C, and a USB-C Video Capture Card.
WHAT TO USE ORION FOR
Orion is perfect for turning your iPad into a portable display for your camera, so you can check your framing, focus, color and more when taking video or stills. Or connect Orion to a game console for gaming on the go or when needing a quick, fantastic monitor and set of speakers. You can also hook Orion up to a Mac, PC or other HDMI capable devices to get an extra screen to output video to.

With Orion Pro — a one time upgrade — you can also adjust the video brightness (from regular brightness to darker than the system brightness), upscale HD video or games with our AI powered 4K upscaler, or enjoy a retro movie or game with the 3-way retro CRT Emulation system.
In addition to this, Orion collects and shares ZERO data. Free is truly free: no ads, no tracking, no nonsense.

This update to your favorite HDMI monitor has a fix for audio issues. Previously, an issue could cause audio to stop working, especially with headphones or audio devices. This update also lays the groundwork for our future updates.

Nice made, needs improvements
The app does well, but I want to use it as an external monitor on the go. Thus I‘d like to choose an 3:4 aspect ratio, but the app letterboxes the 3:4 picture in a 16:9 container on a 3:4 screen. -So black bars everywhere. Otherwise very nicely made. The 4K upscale function is not optimized for text work e.g. MS Office, but playing switch games is very nice.
Endlich - XBOX und Switch auf dem iPad zocken…
Dank iPadOS 17 und Orion kann ich mein iPad endlich als portable Monitor für meine XBOX Series S und meine Switch nutzen.
Orion macht einem die Nutzung wirklich einfach. Alles was man zusätzlich an Hardware braucht ist eine USB-C HDMI Capture Card. Die bekommt man für ca 20€.
So etwas habe ich mir schon lange gewünscht!
Das ist so eine App, die das iPad im Alltag noch viel wertvoller macht!
Ich kann sie zusammen mit so einem HDMI-Stick als Bildschirm für z.B. einen Rechner (Mac mini), benutzen, der sich z.B. nach einem Update nicht mehr über die Bildschirmfreigabe ansprechen lässt. Oder für eine Videokamera perfekt auszurichten und noch viele weitere Sachen, die mir noch einfallen werden, vielen Dank dafür. Deshalb habe ich dann auch gleich die 6€ extra bezahlt, weil ich mich so gefreut habe!
Daß der Programmierer Freude hat am Programmieren, merkt man schon beim ersten Start: Man muß das Paket erstmal auspacken, und dann in der Anleitung lesen, was man für die App
benötigt.
Ich habe mich schon lange nicht mehr so über eine App gefreut!!!
