Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro is the latest offering for the commercial airline market and represents the coming together of Jeppesen and ForeFlight technologies into the industry's leading electronic flight bag (EFB) solution. Introducing a highly performant and fluid enroute map display, D-ATIS, NOTAMs, and increased Weather coverage developed on top of the highest quality aeronautical data available in the market. With FliteDeck Pro, Jeppesen has fully entered the post paper world and addresses the questions of connectivity, integration, and data driven contents that will be the hallmarks of the next generation of EFBs.

Some of the latest highlights that FliteDeck Pro is introducing include:

Good with room to improve

The app basically whorls nice. Features have been improved during last updates.
Although I must mention: when the manuals are out of date because update wasn’t done in time an update can’t be done anymore. Result: deinstall app, re-install app, register again and then all data has to be downloaded again, which needs lots of time. Please, make this improvement in fixing that bug.

Jeppesen, how could you?

Whilst the current version might look more practical with the quick access tabs on the left, it actually became highly annoying in daily use. In fact, removing the option to create favorites amongst the charts and displaying only those effectively removed the ability to create a chartclip with only the required charts. The new way, displaying selected charts an adding EVERY chart I viewed into these makes me take extra steps to remove those unwanted charts. Also, removing the possibility to just swipe to the next chart and having to access tabs and select a chart individually costs extra time. In all, Jeppesen had a tool that offered a quick and nice workflow, and now has created a mess of an interface that will add stress in phases of flight where workload is already high. Especially single-pilot GA operations will see more distractions in phases where the prime attention should be focused on flying.
In a nutshell: We NEED the possibility to have a chartclip that is not affected by viewing other charts, and the ability to swipe back and forth quickly, for example to have a quick view on the approach chart while stil on STAR to verify/ identify preselected ILS frequencies at an early time.

Getting better...

The App reacts much quicker now than a few versions before, which is nice. But there still is room for improvement, especially for UX ergonomics. For example, if you change the sorting for saved flights, WHY does the app change the default sorting method to date saved EVERY day?? This is sooo annoying. And where is the logic in that? Which airline pilot knows which day he saved the route to XYZ? Anyway, when I change the sorting method, I would really like the app to stay that way. Just one of the things which could be improved. But I think you’re on the right track.
