Description
LatinEdit is a Mac OSX program aimed at assisting transcription and translation of documents between Latin & English. It has a vocabulary, revision, and grammar window to assist with learning Latin, and a word tool to help decipher mediaeval manuscripts.
LatinEdit incorporates the WORDS dictionary by William Whitaker. If you option-double click on a word, it will open the dictionary window with suggested translations.
It includes Lewis' Elementary Latin dictionary and Lewis & Short, and will install Karl Zeiler's Latin language spellchecker.
LatinEdit is not an automatic translator. There are no automatic translators to or from Latin which produce reliable results.

Ratings and Reviews
Must-have
I've been using LatinEdit for many years, long before it was added to the Mac App Store, which already tells you that this a must-have, if you have to do with the Latin language, ancient sources, translations, grammar etc. For a long time it was only based on Whitaker's famous WORDS dictionary, but now it also has the Lewis-Short. Very helpful software.
