Top Browser
Edge hat ja einen eher schlechten Ruf und das mag teilweise berechtigt sein, was den Desktop Browser in Windows 10 angeht. Der wird zwar auch konsequent verbessert, greift aber sehr tief ins System ein und hat bei mir auch schonmal dazu beigetragen, dass Windows gar nicht mehr reagierte. Was den kleinen iOS Brude angeht, verhält es sich allerdings komplett anders: Meine erste Wahl aus iOS. Man kann bequem zwischen mobiler und Desktop-Website wechseln, kann schnell mal einen QR-Code mit dem eingebauten Scanner nutzen, die App „Go to PC“ ist ein fester Bestandteil des Browsers und die Favoriten syncen sich über das Microsoft Konto. Wer einen Windows Rechner hat, profitiert also besonders von diesem Browser. Genauso wie Go to PC für Websites, empfiehlt sich der Microsoft Fotos Companion, mit dem sich schnell und leicht Fotos vom iPhone in die Windows 10-Fotos App importieren lassen. Hier macht Microsoft momentan einfach vieles richtig.
Besonders als Ergänzung zur PC-INSTALLATION ein echter Bringer
Nein, nicht jede Bordmittel-Alternative zu Apples Werkzeugen zum Umgang mit dem Web ist wirklich sinnvoll. Edge für IOS bildet hier aber auf jeden Fall eine echte Ausnahme. Zumindest meines Eindrucks nach hat der Safari-Browser von Apple im Laufe der letzten 2-3 Jahre insbesondere hinsichtlich seiner Übersichtlichkeit und in Bezug auf tatsächlich Sinn gebende Features deutlich nachgelassen. Dieses Manko spielt Edge durchaus clever aus, zumal dann, wenn man, wie ich, mehrere IOS-Geräte einerseits und diverse PCS andererseits im täglichen Einsatz hat, also auch immer mal Web-Inhalte etc. synchron verwenden möchte. Auch die für blinde Nutzer wie mich elementaren Details zur barrierefreien Produktnutzung können bei Edge für IOS klar punkten. Fazit: EDGE für IOS ist inzwischen mein primärer Browser geworden und ich empfehle diese App wirklich gerne weiter.
Gute Browser mit Performance-Problemen
Auf meinem iPhone 5 nutze ich iOS 10.2. Edge funktioniert zwar ganz gut aber ist leider nicht sehr performant. Die Ladezeiten sind gefühlt ein wenig länger als bei Safari. Der Start des Browsers und das wechseln zwischen den Tabs dauert ein wenig.
Auf einem neueren iPhone mit aktuellen iOS ist das hoffentlich besser :)
