MIDI Guitar is a revolutionary piece of software that allows you to play software instruments and synths on your guitar, essentially converting your guitar into a polyphonic MIDI controller/keyboard. The guitar-to-MIDI transcription runs in real-time, with latency and accuracy comparable to expensive and inconvenient hardware MIDI guitar solutions.

MIDI Guitar for GarageBand is meant to be used with Garageband's virtual instruments but it is also a powerful and versatile guitar effect processor on its own. It can be used with MainStage or Logic as well, using Apple's Virtual MIDI standard, or even hardware synths with good old MIDI cables.
It will analyse your guitars playing in real-time and and know exactly what you play. As you can imagine, this opens up for a whole new dimension of guitar effects.
MIDI Guitar for Garageband is very easy to set up (it just works) but it has some limitations compared to the more expensive plugin version of MIDI Guitar (more info at our website).
In order to use MIDI Guitar you need guitar- or audio-interface. It will work with all types of guitars, but it performs best with a solid body electric guitar. Use a dry guitar signal, bridge pickup, tone all way up.

Audio-Schnittstelle wird nicht erkannt…
Ich war relativ begeistert über die Möglichkeit dieser Anwendung, jedoch wird meine Audio-Schnittstelle (Tascam US-122MKII) als Eingang sowie Ausgang nicht gelistet oder erkannt, obwohl in den Systemeinstellungen sichtbar und sogar selbst dort ausgewählt. Alle internen Ein- und Ausgänge, sowie SoundFlower und Movavi werden allerdings gelistet. Das mag an Tascam liegen (obwohl neuester Treiber, unter Mountain Lion übrigens), jedoch ist das schon traurig, da Treiber und Gerät sonst von jeder anderen Anwendung (wie beispielsweise Logic, GarageBand, GuitarRig, AmpliTube) und vom System erkannt werden. Sehr schade.
Nur Testversion
Die App unterbricht nach einer Weile - dann soll man kaufen - im Appstore steht davon nirgends etwas - ganz schön schräge Geschäftspraktik 🤮
Fantastic App. not yet perfect, but pretty good!
This app takes time to get used to. It is cloogy and take same experimentation. The Documentation is rather "hidden" all over. amd you must piece together a lot of info yourself, you tube or from the Jam Origin Forum. It does really work and quite well, just experimen t with the noise gate and gain control. your guitar should be on the trebly side e.g. bridge pickup and tone knob open. You can drive almost any software synth out there. I even. have Ominisphere running pretty good. The current version is 2.0 whidh is very good. 1.0 was almost unusable. Version 3.0 will be out on Beta soon and should address the tracking issues. Aside from that, your guitar is a midi controller- you will have a lot of fiun and your jaw will drop. you need some time for this.
