Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase.

On movie night we like to dim the lights, pop the popcorn, and check out MUBI. It puts an arthouse theater at our fingertips, adding a new film every day from an eclectic library of stunning world cinema. The simple interface makes it a pleasure to discover cult classics, eye-opening documentaries, and hard-to-find dramas we might’ve missed.
Liebstes Filmmedium
In Zeiten der zunehmenden Monopolisierung von Streamingplattformen entsteht auch ein immer schmalere Auswahl von Filmen. Wie in einem Supermarkt entsteht ein, auf die breitere Masse zugeschnittenes Angebot, das (wie bei Netflix zu beobachten) ein kommerzielles Interesse verfolgt. Filme, die da aus der Kategorie rausfallen (auch aus der Sparte des „kommerziellen“ & „publikumsnahen“ Arthouse), finden keinen Platz. Das ist ein wirkliches Problem. Filme, die vielleicht wichtige Meilensteine für die Filmwissenschaft/Filmkunst und Filmgeschichte darstellen, verschwinden langsam und verblassen im Gedächtnis der Allgemeinheit. Diese zu konservieren und zu pflegen ist zu einer wirklichen Aufgabe geworden. Ich bin wirklich dankbar, dass MUBI es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, bestimmte, schwer zu bekommende Filme zugänglich zu machen und gleichzeitig einen Austausch für Filmkenner möglich zu machen. Es fühlt sich an, wie der Besuch der kleinen, familiären Videothek um die Ecke. Es geht bei MUBI nicht nur um den ich Konsum der Filme, sondern auch den Austausch. Mögen die Videotheken und damit einhergehend der fachkundige Rat des/der Verleiher*in aus dem Stadtbild verschwunden sein, so bleibt es immerhin Digital bestehen. Ich hoffe, dass sich MUBI noch lange als Alternative gegenüber anderen Streamingplattformen behaupten kann. Vielen Dank von meiner Seite auf jeden Fall!
Deutsche Untertitel funktionieren auf iPad nicht
Edit: habe auf die neueste iOS Version geupdated und das Problem scheint behoben. Jetzt wieder wie gewohnt alles top!
Auf meinem iPad funktionieren die deutschen Untertitel einfach nicht vernünftig. Mal passt es für wenige Minuten und dann verschwinden sie wieder vollständig. Bei englischen Filmen kein Problem, aber bei allen anderen Sprachen wird der Service dann unbrauchbar. Werde MUBI leider wieder kündigen.

Hi Konrad, apologies for the inconvenience! The recent iOS and tvOS 12 releases from Apple caused an issue that prevents subtitles from working reliably. This affected subtitles on MUBI, as well as other platforms. However, Apple has already released an update for iOS (12.0.1) that contains a fix for this issue! We would recommend updating to this version on your iPad as soon as possible.
