SoundTale is an app for creating a great sound experience at your pen and paper table. It's intuitive to use, yet offers lots and lots of features.
SoundTale is an app for sound and music for fantasy pen and paper session or simply dreaming away into other worlds. You can choose from more than 30 music styles and more than 35 prepared atmospheres, as well as a large number of advanced atmospheres and playable sounds.
Before using the app in its full version, you need to get an account for iOS. The normal account price is at least 11 dollars, but it can vary depending on the taxes in your region. There's a demo mode you can try before purchasing an account. Joining a session hosted by a friend is free and does not require an account.
So, what makes SoundTale the perfect choice for your sessions?
The app provides an all in one package with everything you need for your adventures. But let's get into the details:
1. The Music
SoundTale provides over 20 different exclusive music styles that you can listen to for a very long time without feeling repetitive. Each style represents a different mood - you can choose from 'calm', 'creepy' or 'tense' for example. The music is not devided into songs but creates a never ending flow.
When you go from one style to another, the app creates a smooth transition so the experience is never interrupted.
2. The Sound Atmospheres
You can select 32 different prepared atmospheres. They offer a thought trough range from different nature landscapes, creepy dungeons to taverns and other medieval town environments. Most of these environments can be played in day or night mode. Furthermore, you can adjust the crowdedness of each environment with a simple slider.
3. Easy to use
A game master needs to focus on a lot of things. SoundTale is designed to be easy to use on the run, so it doesn't take away to much attention during the session. Still, you can go deeper, prepare your session with our customizable wheel and combine prepared environments with advanced atmospheres which you can create yourself.
4. The Sound Receiver
Playing online? You can use the free SoundTale receiver to send the audio to your players. Simply open a room and let them join via a short room number.
At the cost of a nice set of dice you get hours and hours of fun in an immersive world of sound and music at your fingertips. So, what are you waiting for?

Ratings and Reviews
Gut und intuitiv mit Einschränkungen
Ich habe mir diese App für meine Pen and Paper Runde geholt und finde sie sehr zugänglich gestaltet. Man findet sich schnell zurecht und kann wirklich vieles mit wenigen Einstellungen toll klingen lassen.
Was mich jedoch stört ist die Tatsache, das ich als iPad Nutzer dann auch gerne meine Notizen, die ich ich in anderen Apps nutze öffnen möchte, dies aber nicht geht, bzw. dann sofort die Musik unterbricht. Das zerstört natürlich die Immersion oder meinen Workflow als DM am Tisch.
Wenn die Möglichkeit nicht besteht die App im Hintergrund ausführen zu lassen, wie sonst alle MusikApps, wäre zumindest die Option über einen Splitscreen im Querformat ein Angebot was helfen würde.
Um diese Nachbesserung würde ich gerne bitten.
Abgesehen davon ist die App wirklich unfassbar gut und für jeden eine klare Empfehlung.
Großartige App! Gerne auch im Hintergrund aktivieren
Soundtale ist großartig und ich freue mich sehr sie jetzt auch auf iOS nutzen zu können! Würde mich freuen, wenn in Zukunft die Möglichkeit besteht die App im Hintergrund laufen zu lassen, um dann gleichzeitig P&P darauf zu spielen.
Ich bin total begeistert
Super App. Sehr schöne selbst komponierte Musik und tolle Sounds. Beim Umstellen der Atmosphäre ändert es sich fließend ohne Brüche. Das einmalig investierte Geld ist gut angelegt und die App wird sogar konstant weiterentwickelt.
Als kurze Antwort auf schlechtere Bewertungen:
- Im Gegensatz zu Spotify ist es den Entwicklern bei dieser App aufgrund der Apple-Richtlinien wohl nur möglich, dass die App im Vordergrund läuft. Da können die nix dafür.
- Die App ist ohne Ton, wenn beim iPhone der Lautlos-Schalter aktiviert ist. Hatte ich auch am Anfang. Die Entwickler haben auf meine persönliche Anfrage über Discord schnell und nett geantwortet. Seitdem klappt alles perfekt.
