Makes email easy to use for those with visual impairment, blindness, dyslexia, stroke, motor dysfunction. Designed to be used without needing to see or touch the screen, Speaking Email works as a fully voice operated email app.

Note: a sighted assistant or VoiceOver is required to sign into your email account and configure the many preferences to your liking. The rest is all voice controlled!

— HOW DOES IT WORK? —

Speaking Email reads your latest emails out loud from your inbox, one by one. Swipe left and right to play your inbox like a jukebox.

Whip through your inbox, clear clutter, flag important items and make inbox zero a reality - all while on the go.

You can interact with your email using full screen taps, swipes and voice commands.

Voice recognition needs a trigger. You choose when to pause for a command - on full screen tap, every 30 seconds, at the start/end of emails.

Im deutscher Sprache nicht zu gebrauchen

Im Prinzip eine gute Idee, leider kann die Sprachengine kein originäres Deutsch im Text-to-Speech. Alle Laute werden quasi „verenglischt“. Folge: Deinstalliert!

All user interface, voice commands and prompts are in English. But for email German is fully supported (along with 12 other languages).

We have refined and combined multiple open source language detection algorithms to provide high accuracy language detection to select the correct voice on your phone's text-to-speech engine to read out each email (and in fact each part in a multilingual reply chain). This is not foolproof however and it occasionally cannot detect the langauge (which is the case for all language detection algorithms). In this case it would default to English or the language of your phone (64 languages are supported). This same language detection is also used to choose a dictation language for the speech-to-text engine enabling you to dictate a reply in the sender's language.

For German and 11 other languages we also have our own proprietary detection of signatures (eg liebe grüße), disclaimers (eg rechtlich geschützte informationen adressat irrtümlich), and threads (eg Ursprüngliche Mail), which enables our smart content detection to work fully in these languages.

See under preferences > languages and add the language German. By default Speaking Email will configure English, plus the language of your phone, plus main the language spoken in the country where you are. Please check here if your language does not appear to be detecting correctly.
