Wärtsilä iSailor is an easy-to-use marine and river navigation application for amateur seafarers.
iSailor provides a clear presentation of navigational information, electronic charts and additional content.
TX-97 vector charts supported by iSailor are recognized worldwide as one of the most accurate and reliable sources of navigational information.

Chart folios can be purchased and downloaded in the iSailor Chart Store utilizing the standard iTunes Store payment/purchasing procedure. Chart correction service is provided on annual basis via the auto-renewable subscription service. iTunes will charge payment after confirmation of the chart correction purchase. You may manage your subscriptions and turn off the auto-renewal service in the Account Settings. Your subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the subscription period. You can cancel your subscription in the Chart Store any time. All previously purchased chart folios will remain available for you and can be restored from the service via the Chart Restore function. To receive subsequent chart corrections for your purchased charts, you will need to subscribe to the annual updates in the Chart Store.

The application works on iPhone and iPad using built-in GPS, NMEA Wi-Fi GPS or an external Bluetooth GPS.

What’s new in Wärtsilä iSailor

In this latest release, we are introducing a new annual subscription service. This means that all newly purchased chart folios will include a free correction service available to you all year round.
Whenever you choose your next sailing destination and purchase the chart folio through the Chart Store, you will see the subscription end-date for your correction service under the folio name.
Each time when a chart update is available, you will see a star notification and an update button in the Chart Store.

Your subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the subscription period. You can cancel your subscription in the Chart Store any time.
All previously purchased chart folios will remain available for you and can be restored from the service via the Chart Restore function. To receive subsequent chart corrections for your purchased charts, you will need to subscribe to the annual updates in the Chart Store.

NOTE: App Store will charge payment after confirmation of the chart correction purchase. You may manage your subscriptions and turn off the auto-renewal service in the Account Settings. If you re-subscribe, your new subscription will be automatically updated at the current price unless you cancel chart update service before the subscription period ends in Settings -> iTunes & App Store -> Apple ID -> View Apple ID -> Account -> Subscriptions.

Preisgestaltung

Obwohl die Aktualisierung von Karten stets kostenfreier Bestandteil gekaufter Karten war, hat sich dies nun unter Leitung der neuen Konzernmutter geändert, ohne dass dies auch nur in irgendeiner Weise an die Kunden kommuniziert wurde. Über die Änderungen, und was diese nun bedeuten kann sich der Kunde nur in einschlägigen Foren erkundigen. Sehr schade. Ich habe die App immer sehr gerne genutzt, werde mich nun aber eine Alternative suchen oder wieder ausschließen die guten alten Seekarten auf Papier zu raten ziehen. Mit diesen gibt es zumindest keine bösen Überraschungen.

Funktionalität

Habe diese App nun schon seit der Zeit als es die Karten noch umsonst gab… habe mich dann später darüber geärgert das man nun jedes Jahr neu kaufen muss, aber das ist ja mittlerweile normal. Nach langen überlegen habe ich mir nun wieder Baltic Western part gegönnt, und im vergleich mit der App und den Karten vom NV Verlag, ist diese app und die Kartendarstellung Welten besser als NV. Ich bin ein grosser Fan der BSH Karten, die es leider nicht mehr in der Form für Sportbootfahrer gibt, aber diese Karten hier kommen da zu 95% dran (besonders die tiefenangaben 99%) TOP!!! App läuft stabil auf ipad und iphone (auch ältere modelle) NV Verlag - App kann das nicht!
Mein Fazit : Papierkarten nehme ich von NV (der Pflicht genüge getan , gibt ja leider derzeit nichts BSH gleichwertiges) und diese App mit meinem Revier… ich gebe wieder 6 Sterne…

Geht es dem Ende entgegen?

Eigentlich war iSailor immer unsere LieblingsApp zum Navigieren. Einfach, übersichtlich und zuverlässig. Super! Natürlich hätten auch wir uns gefreut, wenn es weiterhin kostenlose UpDates geben würde. Um zu verstehen, dass so etwas betriebswirtschaftlich nicht auf Dauer funktionieren kann, muss man aber auch nun wirklich nicht BWL studieren. Zudem sind die Karten immer noch preiswert, also kein Problem.
Was uns allerdings etwas traurig und nachdenklich macht, ist die Tatsache, dass es für die App seit 3 Jahren kein Wartungs-UpDate gab. Hmmm… das riecht schon etwas nach „Wir haben an der App kein Interesse mehr!“ und nun gibt es plötzlich wegen angeblicher technischer Schwierigkeiten auch keine Tides&Currents mehr.
Es ist wirklich schade, wir hoffen sehr, dass Wärtsilä diese tolle App nicht einfach zugrunde gehen lässt. Doch es sieht wohl sehr danach aus. Sehr schade!!!!
