War Room 2.0 is the official utility app for WARMACHINE and HORDES. Developed by TinkerHouse Games, War Room puts the entire library of WARMACHINE and HORDES stat cards in the palms of players’ hands, giving them access to a wealth of features that facilitate faster and easier gameplay. In addition, users receive regular rules updates from Privateer Press straight to their devices.

• Full Card Display: Model stat cards are shown exactly as they are printed, so players can reference them easily and with the same confidence as they would printed cards.
• Army Creation Workshop: War Room’s intuitive army creation makes building lists a snap.
• Go to War Mode: Play games with your device thanks to War Room’s host of in-game features, including damage tracking and army list card viewing. Game modes include Solo, Hot Seat, and Linked Play for online multiplayer match tracking.
• Complete Rules PDF and Rules Reference: Access the full PDF rules for WARMACHINE and HORDES directly from your device, along with a searchable rules reference.

The base app is a free download and includes sample stat cards from WARMACHINE: Prime and HORDES: Primal, as well as a selection of cards from Convergence of Cyriss, Mercenaries, and Minions. Full decks can be unlocked via in-app purchases.

Just kill it already

12 years ago this was a usability nightmare, now in 2022 I just want to set my iPad on fire instead of launching this app to play a game of Warmachine…

„Unlocks all future cards“ -War Room

So let me tell you a little story. In the first War Room app there was an option to buy all cards and all the cards that will be released in the future. It cost around 79,99€ I am not entirely sure could have been 89,99 as well (I honestly can remember it was at least 2 years ago that I bought it).
When the Grim Kin faction was released I was wondering when they would be added to the War Room library since the pack I bought like I mentioned included all future releases.
But instead I found out there was a new app.
So my purchase will carry over to the new app, right? Wrong.
Ok so I can atleast import all the old cards I bought into the new app, right? Wrong.
Instead all I get is a 35€ discount on a 95€ option to buy all the cards in this new app.
That is not ok. I would be fine with just having my old cards. I would be fine with having to buy the new cards if I got a discount equal to what I invested into the old app but to not even get 50% of my money back? That is not ok.
And everyone how believes I am overreacting think about it: Was there a reason to make a new app? Couldn’t they have just updated the old one to replace it with this one? 90% (the only reason it is not a 100% is because they made a new app) of the cards are the same and most of the functions are the same. Is there a good reason to prevent you from importing your old cards into the new app?
The only one I can think of is to make people buy the cards again for a slight discount.

Privateer Press I love your work you put so much passion into it even though you have such a small audience (table top is an most likely will stay a niche hobby). But someone has to call you out on this and say: „No. That is not ok.“
And since all I can do if I don’t want to boycott you products is give this app a one star rating I will do that and hope you learn from it.
