It’s hard to remember now, but there was a time, in the not-too-distant past, when people didn’t utter the phrase “go on mute” every single day. That’s just one of the ways Zoom has changed the landscape/society/fabric of space-time; what started as a videoconferencing app for business has become our go-to way (and word) for connecting with people in other places. Zoom’s meteoric rise came due to timing and circumstance, sure, but the app has met its moment with an elegant design, reliable performance, and constantly evolving features. But in the end, its real meaning is bigger: Zoom keeps us connected with each other.

Wir nutzen die App seit Corona sehr intensiv und schätzen es sehr dass sie immer weiter verbessert wird. Vielen Dank.
Allerdings gab es jetzt beim letzten Update eine Änderung, die uns das Handling sehr erschwert. Wir nutzen das „Hand heben“ Feature sehr ausgiebig. Durch die Änderung ist es jetzt sehr umständlich an dieses Feature (jetzt unter Reactions versteckt) zu kommen. Es war sehr praktisch diese Möglichkeit direkt von der Teilnehmer Liste zu starten.
Jetzt dauert es sehr lange sich zu melden und die Hand wieder runterzunehmen. Und es macht es unseren älteren Teilnehmern um einiges schwieriger sich zu beteiligen.
Es wäre schön, wenn sie dafür eine bessere Lösung finden könnten.

Ganz gut, und wird immer besser …
Ich nutze die App als Studierender, und möchte einleitend feststellen, dass ich alleine das Vorhandensein einer solch übersichtlichen iPad-App sehr gut finde. Es gibt meiner Meinung nach an einigen Stellen Bedarf für Nachbesserung, bzw. Potential zur Optimierung. Zwei Sachen fallen mir spontan ein: immer wieder passiert es, konkret beim Formulieren von Nachrichten im Chat, ein Tool, das in meinen Vorlesungen sehr aktiv genutzt wird, dass ich, obwohl ich nach wie vor in der App verbleibe, der Bildschirmpräsentation des Vortragenden während der Formulierung meiner Nachricht für inakzeptabel lange Zeit nicht mehr folgen kann - und diese auch nicht sinnvoll unterbrechen kann oder möchte - da der Chat und vor allem der Chat-Verlauf die Inhalte des aktiven Dozierenden abdeckt. Hier wäre es schön, wenn es eine Minimierungsfunktion gäbe, die nur den Eingabe-Prompt für eine neue Nachricht und die Adressatenauswahl anzeigt und (zum Beispiel) am unteren Bildschirmrand lokalisiert ist. Ebenso wünschenswert wäre eine adaptive Textvorschau, welche sich bei Überschreiten ihrer Standardgröße nach oben vergrößert, sodass man für Änderungen an und Kontrolle der Nachricht stets die gesamte Nachricht im Blick hat.
