The App Store celebrates Global Accessibility Awareness Day with apps and games built for everyone. Within 24 hours of Be My Eyes’ release on iOS, more than 10,000 people who are blind or have low vision were already benefitting from its services. Almost a decade later, that number has grown to over 600,000 users and more than 7 million volunteers in almost every country in the world.

Be My Eyes connects people who are blind or have low vision with sighted volunteers who can help with day-to-day tasks, such as identifying the items on a menu or navigating public transportation.

What we love: How answering a call usually ends up being the best part of our day. To initiate a video call, simply select your preferred language(s) and wait to be connected with one of the app’s volunteers. Be My Eyes has brought together a community of millions of people receiving assistance and providing it.

Quick tip: Snap a photo of your pantry using Be My AI and instantly receive a detailed description of its contents. This useful AI tool can even answer follow-up questions, including whether you have the ingredients for a particular recipe or what products are expired.
