Beskrivelse

"It’s kind of like the Garage Band of coding." – Wired

"Codea for iPad is a super slick way to write and run programs on your iPad." – Gizmodo

Codea lets you create games and simulations — or just about any visual idea you have. Turn your thoughts into interactive creations that make use of iPad features like Multi-Touch and the accelerometer.

We think Codea is the most beautiful code editor you'll use, and it's easy. Codea is designed to let you touch your code. Want to change a color, or an image? Tapping will bring up visual editors that let you choose exactly what you want.

Codea is built on the Lua programming language. A simple, elegant language that doesn't rely too much on symbols — a perfect match for iPad.

Here's how you use it: type your code. Press play to watch it run. Interact with it. Get creative.

A-) ,

By far the best app ever made

Codea is a complete Lua IDE, with numerous C-libraries built in. You can even write your own GPU shaders and use them within your Lua projects. It is very fast, so even advanced games and other projects can be made, especially if combined with shaders. Projects can easily be converted to Xcode and compiled to stand-alone apps, which can then be distributed on app store etc. The developer is quite active and also develops the Shade app, which is a graphical shader-editor which is also highly recommended. Definitely worth the money - Get it now if you like to code or want to learn - Lua is both easy-to-learn and highly efficient to execute. It is also supported on many platforms and C source (and other languages / platforms) is available if you want to include a Lua interpreter in your own compiled projects.

Bump (feb. 2024): Still the best app in the store, lots of new features, including a full Minecraft-like block/voxel library, with infinite terrain and adv. proc.gen. etc. and even more in the beta, including support for the new Metal 3D gfx for iPadOS and 3D physics plus more, so the future is looking very bright as well.

Super fun app

However I'm not the best in coding, I love to own Codea.

I can recommend it, to somebody who has or want to learn some serious coding Language.

I've seen lots of tutorials on YouTube with Codea, so I think that a creat place to start learning the coding Language Codea use.

Hope this is helpful for you ;-)
