Discover Jewish life in Germany, past and present, at the Jewish Museum Berlin!

About the JMB app
Actress Sandra Hüller and many other voices guide you through the exhibitions of the JMB. Architect Daniel Libeskind talks about the ideas behind his design for the spectacular museum building. Personal stories and interviews, images, videos and games introduce you to the highlights and hidden gems of the exhibitions and provide a wide range of views on Jewish life in Germany, both present and past.

Choose one of the curated tours to see the highlights of the museum. The museum’s special architecture is presented in a separate tour. Prefer to find things out for yourself? Simply key in the numbers to make your own choice and decide what to see next - an interactive map provides orientation.

Accessibility is important to us. The app can be used with a screen reader to support visitors who are blind or have limited vision; audio descriptions and tactile instructions support your barrier-free visit to the museum. Visitors with hearing impairments are offered a tour with 20 videos in German Sign Language and all audio content has read-along texts. The JMB app also offers 50 audio files in Leichte Sprache (German plain language) and can be used in a simplified operating mode.

Confusing, stops constantly, slow

The app is very confusing, it has been designed considering the museum artistic take, but on usability level is very bad! Buttons are not where they are supposed to be, and it is not clear what is a button what is just text.

When I figured out the number pad system I finally was able to start listening. Sadly there is no loading status bar or no information to tell me that the audio is being downloaded, so often I assumed it was not there at all.

Then when playing the audio, the apps does not goes in background and does not even prevent the screen shutoff, even if there is an API to prevent that. The result is that when you play the tracks, they are always interrupted, and that was just frustrating

The museum is beautiful, and very interesting but the app is just a pain in the ass. 1 star, because apps should never be this bad according to Apple’s own guidelines!!!
