Photos Search can search for text in your photo library. The app uses Text Recognition software to extract text from a photo. All processing is done locally on the device. You can add a keyword (for use in Apple Photos) to the photos in your search results or create an album in Apple Photos with your search results. Spotlight is supported, so you can search directly after clicking the Spotlight icon.
You can scan a selected time period (7 days, 30 days, 60 days etc.), a selected album or scan all your photos. Once a photo is scanned, you will not have to scan it again, so after a while you will have scanned your complete photos library and it will be ready to be searched instantaneously.
Any text that is found in a photo is at your disposal. You can copy the text, for example. The application also recognises addresses, phone numbers and links in the text and you can take immediate action on these found items, like call a number, click on a link etc.
Photos Search integrates with the applications Photos and Maps to show you the found photo in detail and shows you the physical location where the photo has been taken.
Photos Search also optionally integrates with TextEdit to create a new document with the found text.

Photos Search includes a Photos Editing Extension. With this extension you can extract text from any photo in Photos through the extension feature of Photos. Just Edit a photo in Photos and call on the Photos Search extension to extract all the text from the photo.
You will also receive an iOS version for your iPhone and/or iPad.

type Nixon-Kennedy to find a photo with text that contains Nixon, but not Kennedy
type Nixon|Kennedy to find a photo with text that contains either Nixon or Kennedy
